Trout-O-Ree 2024!

Every other year, Troop 581 hosts Trout-O-Ree, a weekend filled with fishing, camping and all other manner of outdoor fun. Held at Graves Mountain lodge this past April, hundreds of Scouts from across three BSA districts came to join the fun. The main attraction was the chance to catch trout in the recently stocked Rose River. Any fish caught in the river were taken to the cleaning station where the Scouts received instruction on how to clean and prepare their trout for cooking and eating. There was also catch and release pond for those that either didn’t want to eat their fish or simply weren’t having luck in the river.  Scouts also had the opportunity to work on different merit badges including Fishing and Fly Fishing, as well as Horsemanship, Nature, Soil and Water Conservation, Weather, Mammal Study, Insect Study and Reptile & Amphibian Study.  The weather held this year and a good time was had by all.
