Troop 581 Heads Back to Camp Shenandoah

This past November, Troop 581 traveled to Camp Shenandoah located in Swope, VA for its annual ScoutsGiving/Merit Badge campout. Held over the extended Veteran’s Day weekend, Scouts signed up to work on one of the many merit badges offered by the troop. Scouts were able to learn about Robotics, Weather, Camping, Signs, Signals and Codes, Entrepreneurship,  Citizenship, Emergency Preparedness, Fingerprinting, Fire Safety and Astronomy. Then on Sunday evening, the troop hosted its annual ScoutsGiving feast, an early Thanksgiving meal with traditional offerings of turkey, potatoes, and all the trimmings along with an assortment of desserts. The evening concluded with an epic campfire and a round of Scout auctions. Patrols earned tokens throughout the weekend for completed merit badges, good turns and other actions deemed worthy by the Scoutmaster. These tokens could then be used by the patrol to bid on items such as snacks, scout gear and a few hidden items. A great time was had by all.
