Sea Base Saint Croix 2019

One of Troop 581’s most memorable adventures in 2019 was participating in Sea Base St. Croix. St Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands is one of several locations across the Caribbean that hosts BSA’s premier aquatic high adventure base. 5 Scouts and 4 leaders formed a crew that spent a week in Saint Croix exploring the island and surrounding waters.

After flying into St Croix, the crew drove to Camp Howard M. Wall overlooking the Caribbean Sea where they set up camp. Each day was a different adventure from sailing, snorkeling, sea kayaking and hiking. During their stay, the crew visited Buck Island National Park, historic Christiansted, and historic Fort Christiansvaern. A Scout is Helpful so the crew also participated in an epic service project to build planters and populate them with local plants.

How’s that for a campsite!?

A great time was had by all. Pete Stark, Troop 581’s High Adventure Coordinator, outdid himself in setting this trip up.
